CRYOGENIC PIPE SUPPORTS ANCHORS FOR INIDIAN LNG REGAS PROJECT

CPA is an industry leader in the supply of pipe support solutions worldwide.
In this case study, CPA supplied over 100 cryogenic pipe support anchors (or ‘cold shoes’) for an LNG Import, Storage and Regasification Project in India which were specially designed due to very high loads acting on the piping.
The cold shoes incorporate high density polyurethane foam and high density resin-impregnated wooden blocks as load bearing, cryogenic insulating mediums.
To prevent axial movement of the pipe, thrust rings are welded to each end of the shoe. Additional thrust flanges are welded to the pipe at site which slot into the inserts machined into PUF/Wood as seen in the 2nd photo.
In the 3rd photo, the cold shoe is assembled around a pipe spool as part to check fit up to the pipe as part of the inspection and quality assurance process.

CPA DESIGNED AND SUPPLIED OVER 2,000 CRYOGENIC SUPPORTS FOR AN LNG TERMINAL

Liquefied natural gas (LNG) is produced from a cryogenic process, in which natural gas is filtered and cooled to -162ºC, reducing its volume by up to 600 times. With this process, it is possible to transform the gas into liquid, making it easier to store and transport.
CPA is proud to have supplied over 2,000 cryogenic supports (or ‘cold shoes’) to an LNG terminal in Taiwan. The cold shoes were designed and manufactured to support a wide range of pipe sizes from 1.5” to 48”.
These cold shoes have the following features:
✅ Steel base
✅ Steel cradle
✅ Layers of high density polyurethane foam (HDPUF) – a load bearing and insulating material
✅ Protective steel jacket and myler foil between the cradle and HDPUF
✅ Protective mastic painted to the ends of the HDPUF
✅ Special paint finish applied to the base and cradle as required by the customer

PIPE SUPPORTS FOR DUAL TEMPERATURE PIPING

CPA is supplying over 350 pre-insulated pipe supports to an Ethylene Plant. These supports are subject to dual temperatures (low and high) and are therefore insulated with Foamglass material. As well as an effective insulating material at dual temperatures, Foamglass also has good load bearing properties and is fire retardant.

PRE-INSULATED SUPPORTS FOR HOT PIPING – ‘HOT SHOES’

CPA has designed and manufactured over 230 pre-insulated supports for hot piping – known as ‘hot shoes’.

The hot shoes are being supplied to a power plant where piping reaches temperatures of over 500c.

The hot shoes, which will support pipe sizes between 0.5” and 16”, are pre-insulated with high density calcium silicate which has low thermal conductivity and high mechanical strength (to bear load) even at high temperatures. The calcium silicate is also resistant to moisture & chemicals and is asbestos free.

SUPPLY AND DESIGN OF SPECIAL CRYOGENIC SUPPORTS FOR FPSO

CPA has supplied special cryogenic supports for a Floating, Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel as part of a large LNG project.
These supports were specially designed by CPA due to the heavy loads acting on the supports as well as upload loads. Furthermore, the supports had to fit within very confined spaces.

COVID-19 – CARPENTER & PATERSON ASIA LTD UPDATE

Dear Customers,

We would like to provide you with an update with regards to Carpenter and Paterson Asia Ltd’s business operations in light of the COVID-19 outbreak.

Whilst Thailand has implemented a lockdown of many businesses and restrictions on movements, we are pleased to say that our factory has remained open. We have introduced measures to minimise the risks to our staff and customers. We have put additional hygiene and distancing measures in place, as stipulated by WHO and the Thai government. We have several staff working from home. We’ve already configured IT and telephone systems, so that you’ll still be able to contact our staff during our usual office hours. Your out of hours contact is my mobile number as below.

So it’s business as usual for us as far as possible, stock is still arriving, manufacturing is continuing and deliveries are still being made to customers.

The situation looks likely to continue in the weeks to come. We will do everything we can to minimise the impact on our customers. If we find ourselves in a situation where COVID-19 related issues do cause a delay, we’ll let you know immediately.

Please rest assured we’ll be working hard to make sure that there is no disruption to the business. Thank you for your patience at this time. Should you have any concerns please feel free to contact us.
